The Barrier
Microsoft Dynamics is not an easy business to get into.
Just to become a reseller, Microsoft requires you to have three
individuals with multiple Dynamics product certifications each.
At $3,000 - $5,000 per class, plus the time involved, you can
easily spend $50,000 getting one individual certified.
Hiring the expertise is difficult too. Experienced and certified
Dynamics consultants and developers easily earn $100,000 or more per
year. And the chances of getting a qualified person to join a
firm brand-new into Dynamics is pretty slim. They only want to
work for established players that can offer them long-term
stability.
And that's not to mention the fees, charges and requirements
from Microsoft. The basic annual fee for Dynamics partners is
$7500! There's on-going certification requirements, training and
continuing education, and if you really want to keep your people
well informed and in the know, user group meetings and
conferences to attend. Oh, and there's annual sales quotas you
have to meet or Microsoft can pull the plug on you.
In fact, Microsoft is now actively working to cull the lowest
performing resellers from its Dynamics reseller channel!
Like, I said, not an easy business to get into. In fact,
the entry barrier is so high that new players are virtually
unheard of and those that do try it have a very high failure
rate.
